Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. ~Dr. Martin Luther King

As a young person growing up, the teachings of Dr. King had a major influence on my life. Dr. King was an unparalleled leader in a tumultuous time in American history leading the way for the civil rights of Black Americans at a time when racism was even more insidious and overt. Dr. King spoke not only against racial inequality but for all forms of social injustice. Most importantly, Dr. King promoted non-violent methods of protest to get his message of freedom...

So What Have You Done For Me Lately???

    Joe has been:

Providing for Families of the Fallen

    • Early in his Senate career, Biden championed the Public Safety Officers Benefit (PSOB) program, which provides death benefits to the families of fallen fire fighters.
    • Later, Biden introduced and passed legislation to increase PSOB benefits from $150,000 to $250,000, and indexed it to inflation so the benefit is now $340,000.
    • Biden supported and helped enact legislation extending PSOB benefits to fire department chaplains and individuals named in fire fighters’ wills.

  • Want to BE the Change in your Democracy? File as a PCO Candidate...(now)

Posted in Political Action, Public News on May 11, 2020

IF you consider yourself supportive of one of the two largest political parties, or if you are already politically active within one such party, you may consider running as a Precinct Caucus Officer (PCO).  This position is a 'neighborhood' job in which you represent your neighbors at the lowest political level, the 'precinct', deciding Party platforms and voting within the structure of that political party at the state level, and maybe even the National Level (read: Democrat or Republican National Convention).   I am the Democrat PCO for my neighborhood, the 216th precinct.  There are Republi...

  • Alcoa Plant Closure: Petition to The President

Posted in Political Action, Public News on May 07, 2020

    Brothers and Sisters,

The economic impact of Alcoa closing its Italco aluminum smelter this June will be devestating for Whatcom County.  It means a loss of over 700 family wage union jobs.  It will also mean handing over one more large aspect of infracsture overseas and once again putting our country in a challenging spot when it comes to providing ourselves needed resources.

Senators Murray and Cantwell, as well and Congress Members Larsen and DelBene are working on a higher level to mimimize the impact this could have.  You can do somethingm, too:  Please take action using the following a...

Joe’s Record of Support for Fire Fighters

As president, Joe Biden will continue to stand up for working families and public safety, just as he has throughout his political career. He will be a leader on issues that give fire fighters a voice on protecting their community.

We know this because Joe has been with fire fighters - personally and publicly – since he was first elected to the U.S. Senate. His record on the issues important to public safety and to our members is clear - he has had and always will have our back.

    Joe’s record speaks for itself.

    • In an effort to give fire fighters and ot...
